Question about a heating zone

Hi all - I've lurked on this site before and you guys are amazing. I am having a weird problem with one of my zones. I have a Weil Mclain natural gas boiler.

My living room zone over the weekend would not shut off even when I put the thermostat to off, it got so hot in the house. We had someone replace the programmable thermostat thinking it could be that.

Then this morning that same zone would not turn on by itself at 6am when its supposed to. It turned on only when we turned on a different zone in the basement. Then the living room began to heat. What could be broken on the boiler?

It sounds as if you have an issue with the 'electric zone valve' that opens and closes the water supply to that zone.
