ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code

Heating boilers manufactured or sold in the U.S almost invariably comply with Section IV of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers B&PV code. Gas-fired water heaters, which are sometimes suggested here for use as a heating boiler, typically do not.

There is a good 8-page article in January Chemical Engineering Magazine that summarizes the ASME requirements. As I read the article, if brought to mind the ASME requirements that may not be applied to domestic water heaters used a heating boilers. Sobering.

The magazine doesn't have a means to download the article. PM me, and I will email or fax you a copy.

Is the article online? Why not post a link to it?

It's, it's not online - unless you take out a "Gold Membership" at Chemical engineering essentials for the global chemical processing industries at $79.97 per year.
