Baseboards..clicking sound

I have this same problem and saw it (supposedly) fixed on TOH in two ways:

1. by replacing the old steel supports (aka slide shoes) that hold up the fins with nylon/plastic supports that do not catch and click as the pipe expands and shifts.

Problem with this solution - I cannot find the nylon/plastic supports ANYWHERE - I have searched High and Low. This link shows them on the second page as "Silent Slide Shoe" (

2. by installing what I'm going to call an copper 'accordion' expansion section in between two long runs that met at an inside corner. They explained that on long runs that the expansion will clunk into the wall.

I don't have this problem so it will not quiet my baseboards.

If anyone knows where to get the nylon supports please post.

Have you called Hydrotherm?

You're sure they're Hydrotherm BB and not Slant-Fin ?

Why not try making your own out of cut up plastic milk cartons?

I've spent some time with the same problem and here is my solution for it.
