You better be careful! If that pipe wrench handle breaks while pulling on it, you could be in for a heap'o'hurt!

If the fittings are cast iron, you can smash and break them off. You need two big hammers, hold one on one side of the fitting and smash the hell out of the fitting on the other side.

BE SAFE! Flying shards of cast iron are SHRAPNEL and can seriously injure you! At the very least, high quality eye protection is a bare minimum of protection.

You need to KNOW that the fittings are cast iron before trying this, it will NOT work with malleable fittings.

Threads on what? the pipe? I thought you said you were replacing it?

in any case, the threads are probably already 'screwed up' and will need to be wire brushed, etc, before reassembling.

What SHOULD happen is that the fitting will crack and be easily removed. The threads on the pipe, presuming that the pipe isn't all rotted out will probably be OK.

What other choice do you have anyway?
