Question Air Separator location?

I am redoing the piping on my boiler. I have a 1" Air Separator.
I can try to fit it in where there exists a tee pointing down to the exp tank
but there is little room between the 2 zone supply risers and one stub out riser.
can I instead cut out the elbow between the hot supply pipe and the 1" manifold where the three supply risers are, and replace that elbow with a tee and then place the Air Separator terminated at the end of the manifold in the opposite direction of the rest of the supply risers?
I could still drop the tank off the bottom of the air separator at the new location but maybe not add the cold supply to the top of the tank.
Can I bring in the cold supply to the existing tee - but with the expansion tank removed from there and placed under the new Air Separator?
or would it be better to pipe the cold supply to the return side?
thank you very much
I have learned quite a bit on this forum.

Question air separator install

My 1" air separator is female threaded on both sides.
How best to pipe that in?
seems to me you would have to thread in some male connectors and then
sweat them into the rest of the line with slip couplings but then if the threads leak you are screwed.
Maybe there is some way to make a stub with a Union fitting on one side. Is that how the pros do it?
