Burnham running too hot while idle?

How hot should my gas home heater system be running while only the pilot light is active? Currently my system is set to off, both at the thermostat and the power breaker. All summer the pilot light seems to have been on with out any issues.

Today I noticed the pilot was sounding louder/stronger than normal. The hot water pipe leading out from the heater was hot to the touch and the internal thermostat is reading a steady 120F.

I have not activated the thermostat or turned on the power breaker.

Thank you all for any help.

Hi Thomas,

120 sounds pretty hot for just a pilot light heating...

Probably should have it looked at.
