Post Boiler remains Hot even when thermostat is in "Off'

I have an older boiler and its starting to warm up so I shut off the boiler at the thermostat, we still use the boiler for hot water, and the baseboard radiators still remain hot. Shouldnt shutting off the thermostat shut off the pump for my baseboard heaters?

How do you know that the pump is NOT shutting off, and the heating of the baseborards is being caused by 'thermosiphon' (aka gravity ) flow ?

You need to tell us more... pictures might help... we would be looking for what is called a 'flow control' or 'flow check' valve. Show us the boiler and all the pipes and valves around it. Well lighted and from several angles please...

By the way... since you use the boiler for heating your domestsic hot water, it WILL stay hot... normally... but you should not have heat flowing to the baseboards.
