Hi everyone, This will be the first non-heating season that my wife and I will be living in our home, and I have an aquastat question, what should the hi and low temperatures be set at? Our home has a series 68 Weil-Mclain oil fired boiler (.75 nozzle), with a 55 gallon indirect fire hot water heater that was just installed a few months ago and a Honeywell aquastat. The boiler is not a "cold start" type, so it will keep temperature based upon my setting. This is new territory for me as I am used to a Series 68 providing hot water from the coil in my mothers house, so I left the aquastat alone, no matter what season it was. Can I lower the aquastat temps in her house as well? If so, where should I set hers at since she still uses the coil? So where should I set the hi/low settings now that the heating season is almost over? I want to ensure that we have plenty of hot water, while saving as much oil as possible. Thank you, Zack

I'm planning to drain my outdoor wood boiler this winter rather than spend hundreds on antifreeze when I leave for a couple months. I have cast iron radiators and copper lines in the house. What procedure/equipment/pressure will I need to blow out the lines to make sure there is no chance of freeze damage? I suppose its unlikely once the system is drained, but I don't want to take any chances of pockets remaining that could damage my pipes or boiler. My boiler has a drain in the tank, and I have a drain in one line of the loop in my crawlspace. None of the radiators has drains but all have bleeder valves.
