Hot-water heat in new construciton?
In my area, virtually zero new residential construction is with hot-water heat. The only market for hot-water boilers is replacement of those units installed many decades ago. Is this experience encountered elsewhere?

I don't have a clue as to what Pulpo is trying to say but hot water heating systems most assuredly are still being installed, albeit mostly in high end (million dollar and over) residences. Most such installations are radiant floors.
Plain and simple, most homes today built for the masses are driven by price and most are common designs rather than custom. Overall, the cost of a combined heating/cooling system is less than separate heating and cooling systems since the same means of delivery (ductwork) is used for both heating and cooling. Few people, and almost no builder working on speculation, is willing to pay an additional five to ten thousand dollars for a hydronic heating system when an adequate (sometimes barely) hot air system with cooling can be installed for the same cost.
