Wiring taco zvc 403-4 to Honeywell L7224U aquastat
Hello all, I am sure this has been asked and answered many times but here goes.
I have a slant fin oil fired boiler one circulator That had 3 zone valves. I have removed one zone and changed it to radiant floor heat and will do one more zone at a later date. My need is how do I wire taco zvc 403-4 to the L7224U so that when radiant calls for heat both circulatory turn on, but when bb calls for heat only the boiler loop circulator turns on.
As far as the radiant goes I have it piped with a by pass loop and mixing valve and balancing valves.
Any help would be great and hopefully I can find my way back this post.

Hi Matt,
I think your panel has an extra relay, yes? Labeled ZONE 3 PUMP ENDSWITCH ?
You want your radiant zone to be on zone 3 and wire that pump up to those terminals as shown in the install diagram.
The main end switch goes to the T T terminals on the 7224 just as it always has.
Problem with this is that I don't know what you're going to do when you add the second radiant zone.
I think you're going to need another Taco panel, and SR model to run both of the radiant pumps.

Hi NJT, Thanks for your reply and I will see I can understand that when standing in front of the boiler.
The second radiant zone will be from the same radiant circulator that will feed a two zone manifold.
I think I have the bb zone t stat wired to the T T terminals , are you saying I can also have end switch from the taco zvc wired to those terminals? If so that make great sense to me.
Thanks Matt

Did you just add the 403 controller?
You want the baseboard zone t'stat going to the 403 also, and that will control it's zone valve.
The ISOLATED END SWITCH from the 403 is the only thing that should be going to the 7224

Let me clear this up a little, the aquastat is wired to the bb zone valve now through the TT terminal. The 403 is mounted on the wall but no wiring is done yet. I think I see what your saying, use only 304 to control radiant and bb. Why radiant on zone 3?

OK, since you've got the 403 now, you will wire all the t'stats to it.
The zone valves will wire to it.
If you aren't using a zone valve for the radiant zone, you will need to add the jumper as shown in the installation pamphlet.
The isolated end switch wires to the TT on the boiler.
The boiler pump can stay on the 7224 where it is.
Because that extra zone 3 relay will only pull in when zone 3 calls for heat. If you make zone 3 the radiant zone, you can use those relay contacts to run the pump for the radiant. It's just contacts though, you need to supply 120VAC HOT to the COM terminal, and the pump HOT wire will come from the N/O terminal.
The zone valves will wire to it.

Thank you for your help , I have seen you give so much help I knew you could help me.
