boiler air vent question
Hey Guys,
I need some input on if this is normal or not. I have two Taco 150psi/240f 1/8". One is right on the boiler and I never have a problem with. The other one is on the 1 1/2" supply line that comes out of the top of the boiler. It's right before the zone valves. I replaced both of them 4 years ago. then two years ago the top one started pouring water out of it. So I got a new one, the new one has plastic ball or something in side, I was told my the plumber supply house. Anyway last night it started pouring out water again. The temp of the boiler was 185 and the it was right at 20 psi. I unscrewed the little vent and I kept cleaning up the water, then I tightened it all the way on and it stopped. I know it's not so post to be fully tight. Anyway it's coming on two years again so I guess it's time to replace it again. Is that normal to have to replace it every two years? Or I'm I so post to clean or serves this thing? it seems that it will not seat again once it lets some air out of the system. I did a full house filter on the house so it's not getting any more sand or so on in the boiler anymore either.

you might have hard water or something that is causing deposits to acccumulate on the AAV. I personally hate AAV's cause sooner or later they will leak, and the home owner will not notice until things get damaged.
Better to use a coil vent or use an AAV to purge the air then close the cap
