Honeywell R7284B lockout and other issues

Hi,

I am having an issue with my boiler system. We bought the house recently and at least once every two weeks the oil primary control goes to hard lockout. I started troubleshooting it today and discovered couple more strange things.

Here is my system: Burnham Boiler. Aquastat Relay L8184A. R7284 oil primary control (new).

The first other issue is that the primary control is only on when there is call for heat. Everything works when there is call for heat. It goes through all the steps.
When there is no call for heat the display is not on and pressing the three buttons doesn't do anything.

I started looking at the wiring, here it is:

At the Aquastat Relay:
Black from switch goes to L1, white goes to L2.
Nothing on circulator C1 and C2
B1 goes to L1 and Limit on primary control
B2 goes to L2 on primary control
Thermostat wires go to T&T

At the Primary control from the oil burner:
Nothing on the valve
Nothing on the ignitor (This seems strange to me)
Two yellow wires from the Becket oil burner go to CAD cell
Two wires, black(maybe dark gray) and white in one jacket, white - L2, black(maybe dark gray) - motor
Two wires, black and white in one jacket, white - L2, black - motor
Two separate black wires - one goes to L2, one goes to motor

The other issue I see is that there is no connection on the ignitor at the primary control.

Can you please help me troubleshoot.

I appreciate all the help.

Thanks,
Victor

The wiring issue is solved. I am still having an issue with the hard lockout.
The lockout is for ignition. Just had 25 minutes ago.

Thank you.

Need more info

This part seems 'off':

At the Aquastat Relay:
Black from switch goes to L1, white goes to L2.
Nothing on circulator C1 and C2
B1 goes to L1 and Limit on primary control
B2 goes to L2 on primary control
Thermostat wires go to T&T
B1 from the aquastat goes to the black and red wire on the 7284 primary; this assumes there is no oil solenoid valve on the fuel pump.

Said another way, the power to the primary control needs to be supplied from the B1 terminal off the 8124 aquastat (otherwise, what would limit the burner?).

It seems the heating circulator(s) are powered from somewhere else, like a zone panel maybe?

NOTE: if there is a oil pump solenoid valve on the burner, then great, but a L1 power feed will need to be supplied to the 7284 primary.

The ignitor should be powered by the blue wire off the 7284 primary, it appears it's wired 'constant' off the burner motor (orange wire) feed. Old school if that is how it is, what a shame and NOT right.

Need more information on your system to diagnose further.
