Water heater power ventilation

I have to change my water heater and I have a big dillema. The actual water heater has a 5 feet horizontal vent that is connected to the chimney. In top of the heater I have something that looks like a hybrid between a power vent and a atmosfer vent (or natural). I would appreciate any suggestions or hints about what replacement do I need.Name: IMG_20161228_163850861.jpg

You could always consider switching over to electric and eliminate the need for a vent.

Looks like an old richmond... Its a power vent..

But what else is tied into the chimney?

With a new power vent you will need to run the PVC out the side of house or all the way up chimney.

Or go atmospheric and pipe into chimney like conventional heaters..

Many variables...

OK...Now it makes sense. I don't have anything else tide into the chimney, but I have a pcv pipe coming out of it. After I read your feedback, I had somebody slowly move the pcv pipe in the basement and I went on the roof. Sure enough... same pipe! I'm more confident in installing a power vent. Thanks a lot.Name: IMG_20161228_201608908.jpg
