intellicon heat manager showing very high run hours

I have a Weil-McLain wgo-4 boiler using a Honeywell R7184U controller. A bunch of years ago I had a Intellicon hw+ installed and it did not work properly. Via this forum I discovered two wires were reversed. Corrected and was running fine after that. Run hours were correct, etc. Then a year or so later the lcd display started to dim so I got a warranty replacement. I can't remember if I reinstalled it or I had my boiler guy do it but since the reinstall the run hours numbers are way too high. When it was first running run hours varied from 1 to 4 hours per day depending on season. Since the replacement it is never less than 5 and can go to 10 or more. It's now been like that for years now and it just dawned on me what the problem might be. I'm thinking that the run hours is now based on circulation pump time and not burner time. Is it even possible to wire it that way? If you know about these things let's start a conversation to see if we can figure out what might be wrong. TIA.
