Heat going on in basement all of a sudden

last night I went to my finished basement and noticed it was like 85 degrees...checked thermostat and apparently it was set to heat(no idea who would have done that)...switched to off and thoughtnok problem solved...boiler still kept kicking on for next 25 mins...I then took the wires off the thermostat and the boiler was still going on and radiator was pushing heat still...I'm lost

Hydronic (hot water) heat? Zone valves or seperate circulator pumps for each zone? Need a bit more information to diagnose.

So we can guess the zone 3 is for the basement. Try disconnecting the thermostat wiring at the zone controller. If it still stays lit..... we need the make and model of the controller.
Pictures are also helpful.... How-to-insert-pictures
