Boiler Not Heating

My natural gas boiler has stopped turning on. The pilot will stay lit, but the flames wont come on. I've tried setting the zone valve to manual open but that doesn't achieve anything. I've also check to make sure the breaker for the boiler wasn't tripped in my breaker box. I'm guessing something shorted on it? But I'm a little loss on where to check. I do have a multimeter.

Below are pictures of the boiler

Welcome to the forums.

That boiler looks like it could use a good cleaning.
They should be professionally cleaned every couple of years.

With your meter.... check the two transformers for 24vAC. They may be marked R and C.
Is this a cold start boiler or did it stay heated all the time ?
That thermostat looking device mounted to the pipe is for overheating protection. Check that for 24vAC. There should be 0v on the two terminals.

Based on your post - you need to hire an experienced professional. Someone whose references you've checked - not just out of the yellow pages.

pjmack The one on the side of the system, shown in the second picture is reading 24 volts. The one shown in picture three is showing 0 volts. Did you want me to read the voltage of the one in picture three or a different one?

You should have 24V at your stat when not calling for heat and 0 Volts when it is calling. If you do not get these readings then you must trace your circuit back to the transformer that feeds the stat and find out why.

If I have 24 volts when it’s not calling for heat and my transformer on the side of the unit is displaying 24v what should I check on the unit next?

With the Stat calling check for 24 volts at the gas valve.

Call for heat and check voltage at stat. Should read o volts. if not you can try jumping stat wires to see if boiler comes on. If not you are going to have to trace the circuit for 24V all the way to the gas valve. What do have for zone valves. Pics of the ZV and wiring from the ZV to where it ties into the boiler would be helpful.
