Standing Pilot vs. Intermittent Pilot

My older gas-fired boiler has a standing pilot, which works fine - I only need to replace the thermocouple every several years when the pilot won't stay lighted. If, in the future, it becomes necessary to replace the gas valve, would there be any advantage of converting to a intermittent pilot? I probably wouldn't do it just to save the small amount of gas used by the pilot.
