Sound from boiler!

When my oil fired boiler runs, it sounds like it's building up pressure. The sound is similar to the sound a pot of water on the stove makes when it's getting close to boiling! It also has a muted whistling sound to it! The pressure gauge shows normal pressure range so I don't believe it's a pressure problem! Could it be that it needs cleaning? WE have hard water and I have to flush the tankless hot water coil out every few months! The boiler is a Weil Mclain and is around 8 to 10 yrs old.
Thanx!

It doesn't make any popping or banging noises, it sounds like it's building up pressure, like steam would, and then the burner shuts off and the sound recedes. The sound gets quite loud like it could cause an explosion! The aquastat seems to work properly!

Not if the boiler is overheating it's not.

Your boiler has a pressure and temperature gauge on it.
What is it reading when making noise ??

The system should not be over 25psi or approx 180f max.
