concrete pad insulation?

Thanks Tom _B, A contractor told me I would have to insulate the pad He said he would pour part of pad and then put a vapor barrier down then pour the rest of the pad. I never heard of that,I`m just wondering if he was giving me a line of bull just to raise the price or it shuold be done?As far as temps go,I live about 50 mi. North of Phila.Pa,so we don`t usually deal with freezing temps to long(2.5 to 3 mos.)

concrete pad insulation

Hi Mike,

I agree with you, the contractor advice is very odd. And, perhaps could be dangerous if with that foam he doesn't allow a good setting of the pad with the ground.

In the situations that insulation is required (it seems it is not your situation), the recommended procedure is to lay a thin pad of poor concrete (less cement), the insulation (usually is not foam, but asphalt insulation), and the pad at the end

Hope this helps!
