Conrete - To seal or not to seal?
I've heard differing opinions on whether to seal a concrete patio...or not. I even asked a local DIY "expert"...and he said, "Don't seal it."
In my situation...
I have a 4" slab (14'x26') up against the house. I eventually plan to tile it with slate. Also, eventually (1-3 years) I plan to extend the roof to cover the patio. I live in Houston, Texas...so we really don't have any problems with major freeze/thaw cycles.
In my situation, what are the pros and cons of sealing the concrete?

If you plan on covering it with slate someday, I wouldn't seal it. Manufacturers of adhesives usually will not warrant their product if installed over sealed concrete, without extensive testing.
