Water seapage near foundation

During extreme weather conditions when it is raining and the wind is very strong, rain water is being blown into my landing at the front door, running down the exterior wall and seaping between the concrete landing and the house - ending up in my basement.

I am planning an using a caulk to seal the 1/8" gap, but was uncertain as to what type of caulk would be best. I have concrete caulk, but it says nothing about being used with wood.

Any suggestions as the best caulk (or even a different approach)?

Thanks

Because of the space and the different materials, I would recommend siliconized, acrylic, latex caulk. It is flexible, and will adhere to almost anything. It may even come in a convenient color.
