Question help with new stone driveway

I want to extend a portion of my driveway, to make room to park my boat. I'm thinking of just leveling it and putting crushed stone down instead of paving. My question is what do I need to do for a base under the crushed stone? I was going to put down a weed block or plastic, do I need something like stone dust or anything as a base for the stone?

You can put a heavy duty plastic down like some places use for a vapor barrier under concrete. I do not think its needed if you put atleast 4" of stone down and just use weed spray if anything grows. If you want the driveway to be really solid i recommend putting 2b modified down for the top layer of stone. Its a pain to rake out but i think its worth it. Then wet the stone down and roll it with a yard roller or keep driving your car/truck/tractor over it to pack the stone.
