Hammer Drill doens't work
I bought a 6AMP Black & Decker 1/2" VSR Hammer Drill ($59) and an 1/2" Bosch Industrial Hammer Drill Bit to drill holes on slab for 4x4 post bases. The drill did have hammer action and in forward direction but only drill down about 1". I tried two locations, both failed. What could be wrong?

Thanks and I'll buy a smaller bit and have a try. I checked the 1/2" drill bit, the edges wore out but not the tip, I guess it couldn't cut thru stones in concrete. I'm wondering if the hammer action was not strong enough or speed was too high.

i recommend a bigger hammer drill...........mainly one with a SDS shank for more abuse. Ive found a cheap one locally for 100 dollars and i perfect for every now and againers(pardon my lousy english) the drill you have to me is useless unless you are drilling nail holes to attach 2X4s to concrete. Even then id get the bigger drill with more power. The best ive seen is Hilti which the king of hammer drills but very pricy 600 to 1500 dollars. theres my 2 cents. keep us updated!!!1
