Cheapest concrete?

I want to pour large amounts of concrete in an area that is difficult to access. A cement truck would not be able to get there. What's the best (and cheapest) way to get bulk loads of concrete to the area?

Concrete

Perhaps wheelbarrowing concrete to the site is the only option. Perhaps mixing concrete on site in portable concrete mixer is an another.

I once rented a tractor with a front bucket when I had to place more concrete than I wanted to wheel.

You don't want to use a portable mixer for a large pour. You cannot mix it up fast enough to do a good job. The first batch will be setting up long before the last batch is done. You have to do lots of little pours.

The front bucket idea is a good one. You can also get a bunch of buddies and relatives, each with a wheelbarrow. I did a 12x17 patio with 4 of us. It worked out ok.

The best (but not cheapest) way to get a good pour is to have it pumped from the truck to the site. If you are more than 75 yards away for the truck then consider the front loader or a large capacity portable mixer.

How many yards do you have to pour?

Cheapest concrete?

May want to consider renting a motorized georgia buggy. It's has 4 four wheels and a motor can usually haul more weight than wheel barrel and it is self propelled and can dump using a lever, saves the ole back for the important work. Just be sure to have water available to clean it before return .
