I'm installing a gas fireplace

I'm installing a gas fireplace and I'll be adding field stone just for looks and was wondering if I could just build the wall on the 6" basement slab or will the floor start cracking later on down the road maybe there is some way where I can approximate the weight and use a formula to calculate what the thickness of the concrete should be.

Will you be using actual field stone or cultured stone?

Fireplace stone

I'll be using real stone that I already have. With a footing you need the size because of frost heave but in this case it will be inside so all I have to worry about is the weight and will it crack the 6" slab or not.
