Smile Removing paint from exterior brick wall

I'm interested in buying a 1980s totally brick built house. Someone has put up a hideous UPVC canopy extending over the lower storey at the rear of the house and painted all the bricks below it white. I think the canopy should be pretty easy to remove, but I'm concerned the paint, or damaged post-paint bricks will detract heavily from the house.

How do you remove the paint?

Will this damage the bricks?

Will it be discernible afterward that something has happened to the bricks?

The only 2 ways I know of is either sandblasting or paint and varnish remover followed by pressure washing. Either one shouldn't hurt the bricks if they are in good shape. More than likely it will be noticable but over time it should become less noticable.
