mortar mix
I would like to reface an adobe brick fireplace with 1½” to 2” granite flagstone. Can anyone tell me what type mortar mix to use? Someone told me to add fire clay to the mix to prevent cracking, but I don’t know if that’s necessary or even where to get it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello: stvdlf
I moved your question here, into "Bricks, Masonry & Concrete." The nature of the question has more to do with type mortar mix to use for the granite flagstone than it does with the fireplace itself. In this topic you're likely to get the professional help needed than in the fireplaces & chimneys topic.
