Block or wood

I have concrete block house and would like to add on. It is a spanish style home and will be finishing it with stucco. Would you recommend using block or wood for the addition?

thanks.

Block or wood

I am a great beleiver in compatibility of materials. Wood is organic and wood strucrures are flexible. Masonry is inorganic and rigid.

If you go with a wood addition, it wil shrink somewhat and move differently over time with regard to wind, moisture, ceep and shrinkage.

I would go with an addition built out of the same materials as the original. It minimizes cracks and makes connections easier and more reliable.

thanks for the advise. Also, how do I connect the new block wall to the existing corner. Do I just butt the wall up against the existing?
