Question Discolored Bluestone Walkway

I recently had a bluestone walkway installed. Some of the stones have developed a dark stain/discoloration that almost looks like a puddled water stain. The walkway is pitched enough so water does not have a chance to puddle.

The walkway was to be acid washed after 1-2 weeks of the installation. But, it actually took place 2 months after the installation. This did not remove the stain.

Can the mortar used for the installation have caused this since it was not acid washed soon enough?

Can bluestone develop this discoloration naturally? It does not look normal to me and it ruins the look of the walkway.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bluestone is a natural stone, when exposed to the elements any impurities in the stone will bleed out, nothing can be done to fix this, overtime the stone will darken and the spots will blend in better.
