Using a mortar bag

Hi:
There's something I'm missing...

I starting repointing a few areas of our house this weekend. I bought a mortar bag, but I could not figure out the technique for using it. I twisted from the top down, I squeeze the thing, I used a small amount of mortar, I used a large amount, I widened the opening 3 times...still the mortar wouldn't come out.

Any tips from the experts?

The mix has to be real smooth like cake frosting, keep adding water until you get the right consisity

What do I use to 'plaster' exterior block?

I have a 20 year old home with a block basement. The builder had applied a stucco-looking coating of cement material over the exposed concrete block. I need to copy the same covering. What type of material is used to add this finish to the exterior of concrete block? Bob

Replacing concrete bolts

One of my friends made one last jump of the diving board before the old rusted bolts stripped right off, laughed so hard, anyway, now I have three rusted bolts in the patio and was wondering how I can go about replacing the bolts to install my diving board base back. Do I cut them down flush and re-drill new holes for new bolts and what would I use to secure the new bolts? I would really like not to pour a new concrete slab if possible. Thanks!
