Water behind exterior wall

I'm getting water behind my stone siding when it rains. The house is about 30 years old. It appears to be seeping in between the mortar.

Is it common to have water seep in behing stone or brick siding? Should it be a major concern? What's the best way to seal older stone siding up?

For pictures, and some more details of my particular problem, see this thread:

Thanks for any help

I couldnt get the link to work, but yes water can leak between mortar joints, It sounds like you need some tuckpointing done to your house.

Taking a larger view, evaluate the effectiveness of your gutters and landscaping to keep water away from the house in the first place.
