Question Chimney top

We just purchased a house and I found out our chimney has no top on it!!! I have no idea where the rain goes (nothing is damaged) but I need to put a top on it. The chimney has a brick outer shell and the actual exhaust pipe comes up through the middle. Can I just concrete or brick in the top? If so, do I need to make some sort of mold or template for the concrete? They may make tops I can just add on but I have never heard of them. Any ideas???
