Question alternate 'rebar'

if one has misc metal stuff lying around, like aluminum, copper, cast iron, etc., is it ok to throw that into the concrete poured for foundations, retaining walls or whatever?

Not really. Junk goes in the trash, rebar goes into concrete. Copper and concrete are not a good combo.

Sell the valuable stuff like copper and aluminum so you can buy rebar.
