Help the son of a mason that left before he could pass his knowledge.

I've got a gutter leak that sits on a brick exterior portion of the house. The entry steps are also at the base fo teh gutter and are showing mossy coloration that goes up towards the gutter. If there is damaged wood from water leaking behind the brick what can be done about that so the brick won't pull away from the wall?? Any help appreciated.

Fix the gutter leak!
Repair or replace any damaged wood.
caulk or remortar as needed.

The sooner things are repaired the less damage there will be. It is never a good idea to postpone repairing anything involving water.
