I need to divert water away from my house
I have a 40'L x 44"W area running along side my house. Every heavy rain storm water enters my basement through the floor not walls. I have laid 4 long tarps along side the house and this has stopped the water entry. I was thinking of pouring concrete put worry about a tax increase, then I thought asphalt but I don't know if thats a do it yourself job. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. I can't keep the tarps there forever they collect water and look terrible. Thank you in advance.

Asphalt is not a DIY project and would have about the same effect (if any) on your taxes. All you are pouring is a sloped sidewalk. I assume it flows away from your house after is runs off the tarps.
It is extremely rare that you can eliminate a leak on a long term basis by only covering 44" of ground.
Since the water is coming up from the basement slab, this indicated your weak link is the slab/wall joint and/or a general ground water level situation.
You can cover the 44" wide area, but you should know where the water is eventually going and whether it could eventually end up in your basement.

Thank you Dick, I was
hoping to form a small channel on the end of the 44" slab divert all the water in one direction to the end of the slab than create a drain to carry the water approx 10' out into my front yard. Does that sound like it may work, or do you have any ideas that may work better. The water doesnt show itself along the inside edge along the wall, it seeps up through the floor midway in the basement. Thanks again for your help.
