Please HELP>>

Here it goes. I had five brick steps leading from ym walkway up the my front door. There was no ladning do i built with ylinder blocks, and covered with red cement blocks a new set of stairs on top of the old ones, but added a landing on the top of the stairs.
Here is the problem.
the origional stairs had a retainnig wall that extended in height above the previous stair case. i left it there am not sure if I should attempt to remove it and them smooth out the sides, can this be doen? the stairs are firmly installed. any ideas?
secondly- when i installed the stairs I didnts exacllty make each step even, there is my lack of quality work. Can i cover the steps now with limestone or something else? is this possible?
Or will i need to remove the entire thing and restart from scratch?
i am looking to save mony.thanks in advance.

Hire someone to rip it out and redo it correctly.
