If you are in a freezing climate, you will need to add an air entraining agent to give you resistance to freeze-thaw damage. Where I live, you will have a hard time getting anything other than a 4000 psi air-entrained mix for a driveway. Usually about the same mix for patios considering the slight cost difference.
Consisder paying the short load premium for the 2 or 3 yards you will need. If you are going to mix it yourself, you will still have to get the 9,000# of sand, rock and cement to your location in addition to the mixer. You will never be able to mix as good concrete (strength, durablity, consistancy and color) as you can buy. The cost difference could be much less than you think if you include everything.
Make sure you break up the pour into at least two sections if you mix it yourself. If you use ready mix, make it two pours or saw in a control joint to minimize shrinkage cracking.
