footings/slab for fireplace and chase

Live in connecticut and want to install a fireplace insert. I want the fireplace outside of the living room wall, so its doors are almost flush with the inside wall.the wood chase will have veeneer rock.

The demension of the fireplace bottom is 40X24. Do i make cement footings poor a slab and add rebar? Do i connect the slab to the exsisting foundation? what is the simple way of making this foundation. Thanks, guys..

You should attach it to you home since it is part of the house.

If you do not have a positive connection between the existing footings and the new, you can have differential settlement and a chimney that moves away from the house.

Check you local codes for the proper depth for frost. You may have to go deeper to get to the house footings if it was built properly.

You will need fireproof materials for the floor in front of the firplace and there may be a local ordinance required for fireplace elevation. If it is not done right you may have big, big problems when you go to sell.
