You don't get easier than putting nothing on it. Beyond that, you will have to give more information as to what is there, what it will be used for, what you want it to look like and how you will expect it to perform.

thanks, i dont know if a stain is what i am really looking for.. i had a piece of concrete that wasnt covered next to my shed... I have framed it in now...concrete has a few small cracks in it... i am just wanting to put something that might seal it.... and be able to mop it and keep clean..... nothing expensive..

Neither stain nor paint will hide the cracks. If you repair the cracks they are less likely to show with paint. Either will seal the surface and make clean up easier.

Neither paint or stain will make the concrete surface noticably smoother, both will seal it. While paint [because its a heavier coating] will slightly smooth out the surface you would really need a very heavy coating in order to affect the concrete texture any.
