weight will driveway hold???
I have a 1 year old concrete driveway that is 4" thick reinforced with wire mesh and rebar.
Can I safely back a full size dump truck carrying 12 tons of rock onto the driveway then dump the rock on the driveway?
Not sure if that is to much weight for the driveway.
If the driveway can't support the truck and rock can it support the 12 ton of rock alone?

It will certainly hold the 12 tons of rock by itself since the weight is evenly distributed.
Your truck with the rock in it could weigh almost twice that (depending on the tuck). All the load is concentrated on the tires. If the base under the pavement is not good, you could end up with a crack. Do you know how good the base is and how it was compacted?
The way most bases and driveways are built, I would not take a chance if there is an alternate. If it is landscape rock, you will have to move it anyway (maybe further).

Truck..
Thanks, that is kind of what I was thinking too - the weight of the rock would be ok but the rock and truck together might be to much. I doubt the base of the driveway is anymore than nessary.
The dump truck is a large tandem axle truck - at least last time it was but then the driveway wasn't poured yet so dumping on it wasn't a problem.
I live at the end of a cul-de-sac that is only half built up so I'm hoping the driver can dump the rock in the street at the edge of my yard. If he can't legally do that then maybe I'll have him dump the rock on the apron of the driveway - leave the truck in the street. Or in the front yard and just hope it doesn't mess up the yard to much.
Thanks

Rock
Put down thick plastic sheeting in the yard at the curb. Have the truck driver back up to the curb and dump the rock on the plastic sheeting. The plastic will make cleanup much easier when the rock is removed. If you have grass, do not leave it covered more than a few days.
