home addition on to driveway

home addition on to driveway

I am thinking about enclosing my garage and extending off that part of the house a new 40 x 20 garage the new part would be on top of my existing driveway how would i pour footing.

Hi Roger,

Nope! I don't know what area of the country you are in but it won't be on top of any existing driveway. Attached garages in most parts of the country have to have a seperate footing and a few courses of blocks. Check with your local building inspector for your requirements. You will likley be excavating down.

I agree I think I will need to cut the driveway and excvate down for the footing but how do I build the forms for the apart above ground since it is surrounded by concrete already ie no place to drive stakes to hold form boards. ps I live in louisiana.

After you cut and remove enough of the driveway to dig and pour your footer, there should be enough room left over to stake your form boards.
