Foundation Vent cover

My house was built in 1948. I guess the foundation was redone at some point, at least the blocks don't look 50+ years old. Anyway, there are openings in some of the blocks to serve as vents but there are no covers for them. The blocks aren't completely open, they have two vertical pieces of concrete in them which would make sliding in a vent cover impossible without removing them. Are there vent screens/covers that just attach to the outside of the block and don't have to be inserted into the block? Links to sites that have them or stores that carry them?
Thanks

So I should cover them then and not use them as vents at all? I've seen both opinons related to keeping the vents or closing them off.
