stucco questions

I have a couple of questions. I currently have smooth stucco on the exterior of my house, i would like to have the stucco that looks like knock down. Is that sprayed on or how is the easiest way to achieve that and do i use a bonding agent or 3 layers or what. also part of the front of my house is painted brick, i was told that you can stucco over the brick and make smoot or whatever, what is the best / easiest way to do that. thanks in advance.

More info needed.

What type of stucco do you have, synthetic (thin and plastic-ish) or cementious (thick and rough below the finish coat)? Everything else will flow from that. Remove an exterior electrical plate, and you should be able to tell.

If it is integrally colored, you are in good shape. If it is painted, you have to prep it. The more info you can offer the better, and photos are great.
