Advice for staining a concrete floor please!

I have a basement room that I just finished out. The house is 60 years old and I would like to stain the concrete floor. I would like to get that look that you may have seen in Starbucks or other restaurants. I have left the floor joists showing and am using track lights etc., to achieve the "industrial" look.

Any tips/advice on how to do this would be appreciated!

You can find some good how-to stuff from this website http://www.acid-stain.com/index.html

The key is to make sure that your cement is free from any dirt or residue from grease or glue. The acid stain works on the "cream" of the cement and if that cream is full of dirt or glue or grease, it will nto stain and ur floor will look ugly.

Hope it helps.

If you want it to look a Starbucks, you will probably have to resurface the floor with a skim coat. A 60 year old floor is going to give very variable and poor results for staining, in my experience.

Google, STAINING CONCRETE, and you will find several links that will help. I noticed that the second one listed even offers pictures, and step by step.

You will find what you are wanting, so give it a try.
