Concrete Slab For A Shed

I am putting in a new 8' x 12' garden shed and want to put it on a concrete slab. The ground is loose soil. So far two companies gave estimates and all they want to do is pour either an 8" slab on top of the ground or a 4" reinforced slab on the ground. No soil prep or anything. Do i need a footer or soil preparation?

Hi:
When we put a shed, a wooden 10' x 10' shed, they/USAShed told us to make the ground as level as possible. Since our backyard is a bit sloppy to the point hilly, then we dug about five to six inch a whole area where the shed was placed. Particularly, it's needed to be completely level all four corners and surrounding areas for stability. Also, we made sure the ground is very firm without any bump and lump soil by using heavy duty shavel and other heavy-duty tools.
