Oil stains on pavers

I got cooking oil spots on my pavers leading up to my front door. I was carrying in packages from food shopping and the bag with the cooking oil was leaking, bla bla bla.

I tried to clean it up with dishwashing soap but it didnt make a difference.

HELP!

You didn't say what type of pavers, but I assume you're talking about concrete interlocking bricks. If so, soap and water usually does the job, over time rain will wash it off. For more stubborn oil stains you can try a citrus degreaser type of soap which should get rid of the oil with one application. Spray it on fairly heavy and let it sit for a few minutes then hose it off.

Widen asphalt driveway cost

This is sort of a follow up to the thread asking advice about New Asphalt driveway cost on Sep 30 ... I have a similar question about widening the driveway. I currently have a driveway about 10'X20'. It's in reasonable shape and I wouldn't normally do anything with it for many more years, but it is obviously not new. I really need to widen the driveway (new section about 10'x30'), but what should I look for in price quotes? Should it be priced like a new 10'x30' driveway with a little extra to resurface the existing section? Should I expect it to be priced like a new driveway for the entire size?Read More

Brick wall through bolts- how much load?

We are thinking of hanging heavy punching bags from custom made steel brackets on the inside of an exterior brick wall, securing them with through bolts to a metal plate on the outside. We plan to use 1x12 as a washer between the interior bracket and the brick. The bags will be taking a lot of abuse, kicks and punches, a lot of violent swinging. Has anyone tried this? Will it hold, and the metal plates serve to dissipate the wiggle, or will it damage the supporting brick wall?Read More
