Patching Edges of Asphalt Driveway

The edges of a section of my driveway have crumbled probably mostly due to weed infiltration. Do cold patches hold okay on edges?

Your supposed to make square holes for cold patch, but b/c its on edge my patch will only be retained on 3 sides. Should I worry about this? What's the best product for this? I'll probably need around a gallon of patch material.

I'm familar with the standard instructions for cold patch.

Thank you for your help

Cold patching is never durable no matter how it's done.

Cold patching is used primarily by municipalities to patch potholes to last over the winter until the patching can be done properly come Spring/Summer. It is temporary remedial solution not a lasting one, therefore not recommended for driveways.
