Concrete Ceiling

I'd like to install a chin-up bar in the concrete ceiling of my garage -- any thoughts?

 

Sure. If you use it religiously, you will end up with good upper body strength.

I'm betting you are looking more for what type of attachment would be best to use, right?

Depends if you want a stud or a female thread. If you want a female thread, you are pretty much left with drop in anchors ( kind of ironic isn't it, since you can't drop them in)

If you want a male thread, a wedge anchor or a sleeve anchor will work fine. Believe it or not a 1/4 inch anchor of any of the above will provide adequate pull out resistance but I would tend to use 3/8 inch anchors.

Heck, even a 3/16 inch tapcon would provide nearly 400 lbs of pullout resistance.

So, you want a male or female thread?
