Hello , I am geting ready to build at retaining wall with two row of 12 inch block ,then the rest 8 inche . ok my question when mixing mortor I use 32 shovel of sand . i bag of type n mortor and two shovel of portland cement,does anybody know a diffferent way mixing cement also black motor for red common brick. live in the south east where the weather is mild

Whose shovel? Mine or yours? Mortar is measured by volume, and shovels don't cut it. CMU is also a poor choice for a retaining wall, as most CMU systems are designed for freestanding walls.

You should investigate segmental concrete retaining walls as they work better, can cost less and are much more DIY friendly,
