Trench in Concrete Slab

What is the best way to create a trench in a concrete slab? The trench will be for new water pipes.

Hi There

Mark out the area, use a demo saw with proper blade to cut out the perimeter, jackhammer out the middle.

What do you mean by a demo saw? Am I looking to cut all of the way through the slab or just enough to get some play when it comes time to use the jackhammer?

A demo saw, cut off saw such as Partner, gas or electric that has a 12" blade or bigger. You can cut almost though the floor this will prevent cracks and breakage extending past the trench cut. Here is a link to see what they are.

Propane stubout thru Brick Veneer.....Ugly Hole!?

New construction A "concientious" contractor running black iron pipe for propane runs at my new house under construction..... stubbed pipe out thru the exterior wall he must have drilled all of the way from the inside to outside and blew a wad of brick. (I guess it would have taken too much time to measure outside and drag the extension cord to the exterior side and drill outside in). I have drilled 4" hole in brick veneer with a masonry hole saw and a 40lb Bosch hammer drill with no chips in the brick....what the heck was this guy doing??! How can this be cosmetically fixed? The blow out seems to big to cover with a plate or what ever would be used...... Also he told me the B.I.P. was better than the flexible sheathed gas line....is that true? see 3rd picture...... Actually, this is an interior problem (in my living room) that no one could answer! We have a brick chiminey. The interior part has many white spots (efforescence) I think. We have stopped all water entrances but after washing the spots, they re appear in a couple of days. Some spots are really eating away the brick! How can I stop this and restore the chiminey?
